CP Beneth Igwe MNI has returned to the Federal Capital Territory Command as the Commissioner incharge of the Command. He was once DCP Operations in the FCT Command.
Amid rising insecurity across the country, the Police Service Commission, PSC, has approved the appointment and posting of new Commissioners of Police, CPs, in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Ekiti, Benue and two other states.
Confirming his appointment to this blogger, he said “Yes I am the new FCT commissioner of police, my appointment is to make sure that crimes are reduced especially one-chance syndicate, kidnapping for ransom, killing and armed robbery incidents. I promise to make sure that everyone living in Abuja will sleep with their eyes closed and we are hitting ground. I will be resuming tomorrow”
CP Igwe takes over from the newly promoted Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, Haruna Garba, who is now the AIG Armament.
Before his latest appointment, Igwe was on January 17 appointed by the Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, as the Commander of the FCT Special Intervention Squad.
He ended crimes in FCT as the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) commander.
The FCT has been bedeviled with the menace of insecurity as residents record increased cases of one-chance syndicate, kidnapping for ransom, killings, armed robbery and other dangerous crimes in the last five months.
With the appointment of the new CP, FCT residents are going to say goodbye considering his history as he is known to be very operational, risk taking snd very strategic in his war against crimes.
