National Archives releases note Obama had received from outgoing Republican President George W. Bush on his inauguration day
While Obama had blasted Bush's record throughout the 2008 presidential campaign, Bush welcomed the young Democrat into the White House in 2009 with open arms.
Bush wished Obama a 'congratulations' and said 'you have just begun a fantastic chapter in your life.'
'Very few,' Bush noted, have had the honor of the responsibility and the excitement of the challenges ahead.
'There will be trying moments,' Bush warned. 'The critics will rage. Your "friends" will disappoint you.'
'But you will have Almighty God to comfort you, a family who loves you, and a country that is pulling for you, including me,' he continued.
'No matter what comes, you will be inspired by the character and compassion of the people you now lead,' Bush had wrote.
Things were even more rough and tumble in the 2016 campaign.
Even before he ran for president, Trump had been one of the loudest voices to give credence to the 'birther' conspiracy theory, which questioned Obama's legitimacy as president by questioning his place of birth.
During the campaign, the billionaire went after Obama's record, and has already taken the first few steps to dismantle the outgoing president's signature health care law, Obamacare, or the Affordable Care Act.
That being said, once Trump was elected, Obama welcomed him to the White House and the two reportedly conversed often during the transition period.
I was a real Obama fan but I like Trump too. President Obama was a kind person and I admire how President Trump speaks whats on his mind and doesnt sugar coat it for the likings of anybody. I say everybody needs to give President Trump a chance as he just got in for God sakes!!!

ReplyDeleteTrump had an opportunity to reach out and try and unify by at least acknowledging their concerns but instead belittles his opponents. He really needs to develop some people skills and at least learn to feign empathy if he plans to succeed. The sooner he realizes that he works for the American people the better. This stubbornness would be only digging a deeper hole.
ReplyDeletePlease Americans please. We have respected America as the home of democracy, but what we are witnessing the events unfolding makes us question the trust we had. Trump won the elections squarely and fairly. His victory was challenged in a court of law, and when the votes were ordered recounted, in fact it became more. Now Trump has been sworn in, elections are over, and stupid mannerless women are on the streets protesting. Come on grow up, if you can't stand Trump as presso, borders are open, kindly leave at your preference, and come back after 8 years where pence will be succeeding him. Republicans will rule for 109 years. Mark my words.
