Jilted 22-year-old man commits suicide live on Facebook after girlfriend breaks up with him

This is the tragic moment a heartbroken man shot himself live on Facebook.

In the shocking footage Erdogan Ceren, from , holds a shotgun to his chest while addressing the camera and, after one failed attempt, ends his life.

The 22-year-old first tells viewers on the social networking site that his girlfriend had broken up with him and therefore intends to commit suicide.

He tells the camera, 'No one believed when I said I will kill myself – so watch this.'

The young man is shirtless in what appears to be his bedroom as he presses the gun to his chest.

His first attempt fails as the shotgun appears to lock.

Around 37 seconds into the four minute clip, the young man readjusts the camera, takes aim... and fires.

The footage then goes completely black.

The heartbreaking video has since been viewed 543, 000 times and attracted 14,000 comments.

One social media user watching the livestream desperately pleaded, 'Don't do it, for the love of god'.

According to Turkish website bugunun haberi, his relatives heard the shooting and discovered his body.

Local media reports state he later died in hospital.

Ceren had previously documented his distraught emotions online, posting a Facebook status saying 'feeling broken' along with the words, 'Our love saga would be written, "Behold, the eyes would not cry, half of you is going to tell you now, my hands do without that side''.'

Last month he had also posted on Facebook: 'And now he passed away in peace. Why do you think spring is in the middle of ice. Just shut up and smiled at him, I gave a lesson "That's why darkness. Forgive me, girl''.'

Turkish police have now launched an investigation into the death, which reportedly occurred in Duzici, a town and district in Osmaniye Province.

  1. OMG!No girl is worth killing yourself over. There mustve been something underneath all of it and the last straw was being dumped. Doesn't matter if he's Muslim or Turkish. He was human, someone's brother, uncle, son etc. It must be so hard to feel alone, useless and worthless in his own mind. He wasn't any of them. RIP.

  2. you died for your girl that might not care about you, but you forget about your family that will love you forever. god gives you a second chance to rethink by the lock of the shotgun, but you still choose to go...

  3. I know its absolutely senseless of me to say but just the other day, I did say to a friend of mine, "With the way people are so obsessed with Facebook Live, I am not gonna be so surprised to see someone kill themselves live." It has happened. God save his soul.

So heartbreaking. He probably did have depression. Most people don't kill themselves over another person breaking up with us. Cry, get upset, etc...yes. But with depression, even a normal life event can set someone into a downward spiral. He also said people didn't believe he would kill himself? What horrible people he had around him then. If a friend or family member came up to me & said "I'm going to kill myself" the LAST thing I would say is "whatever...I don't believe you." RIP...I'm sorry you couldn't find peace in life.

  6. I know when the hurting won't stop and it seems the best way out, the tragic part is being lonely, in this age of social media people dont have time for each other, better to confide to your bffs or parents they'll guide u through this tough phase. I wish he could' ve done that. RIP

  7. So sad. A permanent solution to a temporary problem. I've had my heart broken before and thought I would never be happy again. Now I am and I look back and think "thank goodness that relationship ended". I'm sure he had other underlying issues here. Posting your suicide live on FB indicates some kind of mental health issues. Still, please remember, everyone... you matter to someone. Your life is important. And pain is fleeting. Don't seek an end, seek help and a new beginning.

  8. So very very sad. Love, grief and depression are so powerful. They change the rational to irrational and make people think their decisions are "the only choice". My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends who will question this and play out the days leading up to this, for the rest of their lives. How heartbreaking that a beautiful young life is now no more, when we all know, given time, he would have moved on from his heartbreak.
I feel for the young lady too who is not responsible for these actions. ❤️❤️

  9. That's so sad I don't think anything is worth taking your own life for!!! I'm pretty sure something better is written for you it might not seem that way in the current moment but sometimes sad moments end up taking us in a different path to meeting someone better

  10. Just my opinion but I don't think any pictures should be shared in this article. I'm not a member of his family but I am sure his family doesn't want to remember him like this. I think it's in very poor taste to share these photos. Nothing wrong with raising awareness, but pictures: no.

  11. Heartbreaking ...no one can ever tell you your worth..suicide may seem like a solution to end your pain, but the end result is that everyone else living will endure that for the rest of theirs. Rest in peace young man ..prayers and condolences to the family and friends
