President Obama acknowledged today the controversy roiling Donald Trump's campaign, hitting the businessman during a Chicago fundraiser for bringing "disturbing...unbelievable rhetoric" into this year's presidential election.
"I don't need to repeat it. There are children in the room," Obama said. "But demeaning women, degrading women, but also minorities, immigrants, people of other faiths, mocking the disabled, insulting our troops, insulting our veterans. That tells you a couple things."
Trump has been under fire from Democrats and Republicans alike over a leaked 2005 video in which he brags about using his celebrity power to make sexual advances and grope women.
"It tells you that he's insecure enough that he pumps himself up by putting other people down, not a character trait that I would advise for somebody in the Oval Office," Obama said.
"It tells you that he doesn't care much about the basic values we try to impart to our kids. It tells you he'd be careless [with] the stability and the respect that a real vibrant democracy requires."
The President is set to arrive back in Washington, D.C., in a few hours to tune into the second presidential debate.
What do Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Dr Dre, Ja Rule, Ghost Face, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, 2 Chainz, Drake, Rick Ross, Eminem, Robin Thicke, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift have in common with Donald Trump?
ReplyDeleteThey all sing explicit songs, they all hide subliminal derogatory messages in their songs with the same words Trump used; and are played in homes, weddings, kids party, schools and outdoor festivities.
Only difference is that one is running for president; so everyone else is excused and their message behind the music is acceptable.
Hypocrisy???
God Bless America.
I understand your disgust. But, don't put the music artist in this situation. They aren't gonna be the ones running this country.dealing with other country's and people. Let's just top the conversation and get out to VOTE. I can not tell you who to vote for I can only ask that you make the right choice. For better not the worse.. the world is concerned take Hillary word that outside source's would love Trump in office. So stop worrying about music and focus on Voting.
DeleteThis election year is super pathetic and embarrassing. But this badgering between the 2 candidates and still showing nothing on how they can both better the system is what makes it stupid.
ReplyDeleteNow everyone is offended with Trumps video on the disgusting words. True it was and is disgusting, offensive and down right demoralizing. But are the people mad because of the words or because it's Trump. The double standards is real my people but we too are in denial.
There's a meme on Facebook comparing the Trump events of this week with that of 50 shades of grey. Ok I agree it cannot be compared to some extent. But let's bring real life into this.
Once again I am not defending Trump. I wish there were better choices. Trumps words of 11yrs ago have caused a stir in our society and also exposed the double standards of our society and our country. You see, everyday we parents and leaders fight against a large industry that demoralizes women; young and old with explicit words in the lyrics and heart wrenching videos. Yet SOCIETY continues to make them the highest selling genre in the music industry. Rappers like 50 cent, Jay Z, Biggie (RIP) Eminem, Tupac and all the young rappers that are coming up in the industry, Not only demoralize women with the lyrics to their rap but the videos themselves proves how this country and others as well feel about and treat women. 50 shades of Grey is a make-believe story BUT the music industry is real. The disgusting demeaning and immoral exploitation of women has yet to rattle feathers in our community, cities, states and congress. There is no stopping them. People still support them. The president, his wife and daughters dance to many of these rap music at parties. His eldest caught on video dancing (aka grinding) to these songs and today's society is calling it "growing up". You see this is perfect example of hypocrisy at its finest.
The sad thing about RACIST right wing Republicans is that if Obama said those words he would be CRUCIFIED. The good old double standard. Then they want to DEFLECT and be in DENIAL by bringing up Bill Clinton. There's no such thing as holding their SAVIOR and CULT LEADER Trump accountable. If Trump had respect for women and viewed them as equals then he NEVER would have said what he said on that hot mic. ANY woman who thinks otherwise is DELUSIONAL. Evidence has shown that Trump fundamentally has not changed at all. He's a RACIST SEXIST MISOGYNIST PHONY!!!! :(
ReplyDeleteThe world is going to miss you president Obama
ReplyDeletePresident Obama, Trump “pumps himself up by putting other people down.” That is exactly how a schoolyard bully acts.
