“This Kaduna crisis confirmed that there was deliberate attempt to frustrate Christians but I didn’t ask Christians to kill Muslims" – Apostle Suleiman Johnson

Apostle Suleiman Johnson of the Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide on Wednesday denied the report that he instructed Christians to go after Muslims, describing the report as not only senseless but malicious.

The firebrand Pastor was reported to have been preaching against Islamizing Nigeria and allegedly asked members of his church in Auchi, Edo State to resist the killings by suspected Fulani herdsmen, who he alleged of targeting Christians for decimation.

The security report had led to his attempted arrest in the early hours of Wednesday at an highbrow Hotel in Ado-Ekiti by some men suspected to be operatives of the Department of State Security.

The security report had led to his attempted arrest in the early hours of Wednesday at an highbrow Hotel in Ado-Ekiti by some men suspected to be operatives of the Department of State Security.

But the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, had prevented the man of God from being arrested over the comment he made a couple of weeks ago, which the authorities branded as too ‘caustic’ and ‘inflammatory’.

Speaking in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday on the contentious issue, Pastor Suleiman clarified that what he preached centred on was the need for Christians to always defend themselves anytime the church is invaded by gunmen and not a direct incendiary comment that can make Christians and Muslims to confront one another.

The cleric added that it was sinful for anyone to order a fellowman to kill a creation of God, describing the alleged comment as a misrepresentation of facts.

In his words, “They said I preached in Auchi two weeks ago which they said implied that I was instigating Christians against Muslims. I have always been an advocate of peace and I can’t stay around and be saying such. There are widows and orphans for us to take care of just because of these senseless killings, no leader will see his sheep being killed and be happy.

“Later, I got anonymous calls from Fulani Herdsmen about what I said. What I said was that, if gunmen came around church to attack churches, you must defend yourself, but if they come to pray, don’t attack. But they quoted me out of context. I am not stupid, I live among the crowd and I am not senseless. Time for self defence has come. Whether you are a Muslim or Christian, someone can’t just come to your house and killed your children and you will keep quiet.

“I said the Christians must not go after them, but if they come after us, then defend yourself. This is what they twisted. I am hearing different versions of the story. I was in Abuja for three days why didn’t they come after me. But now that I am in Ekiti, they wanted to lump me up with a man they think was against them. It could have been easier to pick me up in Abuja, I don’t live here.

“If this will make them to clarify what I meant, I can present the video of my preaching. A town in Aviele in Edo State, Muslims rushed into the church and chased away all church members and started calling for Islamic prayers there. I have always been preaching that youths must not kill. It was even wrong for the police or security agency to be coming around me and be saying I preached that I said Christians should kill Muslims without any verifiable facts.

“The only thing I am seeing is that we must learn how to investigate.

I am not happy because of the way Christian community have been reacting. They are even saying they will protests abroad in all Nigerian embassies. I will never be alive and see Christians destroying property of Muslims because there will be problem.

“If they had called me and say I should tone down what I said, I would have gone back to do that. I have never been invited, but if I am invited I will come but that will be at my own time. I was not stopped from preaching.

“This Kaduna crisis confirmed that there was deliberate attempt to frustrate Christians. The National Assembly must not fold their arms and see this happen. But I have no grudge against Buhari or DSS. They are only doing their job, but the DSS did it wrongly”.

"Are Christians and Moslems under different dispensation of the rule of law?" Fayose on foiling DSS plan to arrest Pastor Johnson Suleiman in Ekiti

Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’s Forum, Mr Ayodele Fayose, in the early morning on Wednesday foiled an attempt by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) from arresting Apostle Johnson Suleiman of The Omega Fire Ministries World wide in Ado Ekiti.

The firebrand Pastor was alleged to have been preaching against Islamizing Nigeria and asked members of his church in Auchi, Edo State to resist the killings by suspected Fulani herdsmen, who he alleged of targeting Christians for decimation.

The Pastor who was in Ado Ekiti for a two-day crusade that was also attended by Fayose was trailed after paying a courtesy visit to the governor at the Government House to his hotel room by the operatives of the DSS in Adebayo area of the State capital who almost forced their way to his room but were resisted by security men of the hotel that insisted to know their mission.

Sensing the danger, the Pastor was alerted and he called Governor Fayose who personally led a rescue mission to prevent the abduction of the Pastor and took him to safety. The Pastor who narrated his ordeal around 2am said, “I came to Ado Ekiti for a crusade. But I had a premonition that I was being trailed after I preached that Christians should retaliate any attack or killings by the Fulani herdsmen. These Fulani headmen had turned many Christians to orphans and widowers but the time has come to protect ourselves. “I received several calls from hidden numbers trying to locate where I am and I had warned my security not to allow any Fulani man to come nearer me. So when the men of DSS came in the middle of the night I knew their mission and I had to call the Governor because if they arrest me, they will put this country in fire”. Governor Fayose, who expressed surprise that a man of God was been trailed to be arrested by the men of DSS said, he expected the security operatives to invite him “ if they have any issue with him instead of arresting him in the dead of the night after a powerful and spirit-filled crusade in my State. The Governor said, “I personally attended his crusade and I think it is wrong for a man of God who is armless that could be invited if they have any issue against him. Are Christians and Moslems under different dispensation of the rule of law? . That’s why I went there to rescue him. Let them kill two of us together. But when they saw my vehicles and the crowd, they fled.

“But we have information that instructions came from DSS in Abuja that the Pastor should be arrested. We are not in a fascist state, Federal Government must learn to respect the rights of Nigerians and freedom of expression”. Governor Fayose noted that it was unbecoming of the Federal Government to be harassing the clergymen in the country noting that the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adeboye was harassed and forced to resign shortly after he visited him in Ado Ekiti.

He said, “This is unacceptable, We are in a democracy and Nigerians should warn the Presidency against putting this country on fire because religion is an emotional thing”. The governor also warned security operatives against intimidation and arrest of men of God in the interest of peace and religious harmony in the country. The constitution guarantees freedom of worship”.

Apostle Suleman of OFM fires Pastor for using church’s name to register with ponzi scheme, MMM

An Aba branch pastor of the Omega Fire Ministry (OFM), Pastor Joseph Aiyedun has been fired by the Founder of the church, Apostle Suleman, for using the church's name to register and participate in the ponzi scheme, Mavrodi Mundial moneybox, MMM.

According to a statement signed by the Head of Administration of the church, Pastor David Apelorioye, the erring pastor was sacked after due investigations revealed that he indeed not only participate in the ponzi scheme but equally used the church's name to register with the scheme, an act it said has dented the image of the church.

“The management of Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide is using this medium to react to a news making the rounds on the social media regarding one of his pastors who used the ministry’s name to register for the MMM scheme.

“Ordinarily, the church would not have reacted to the story because of falsehoods being published regularly by some blogs and news websites whose credibility are questionable.”

“But after a thorough investigation by the church authority, it was established that one of our branch pastors in Aba, Pastor Joseph Aiyedun, indeed participated in the scheme.”

“The church authority decided to expel Pastor Aiyedun not because he registered for the ponzi scheme but because he involved the ministry’s name in the satanic adventure."

“And we discovered that he was able to use the ministry’s name because he had access to the account of his branch which itself is against the church’s guidelines and a fraud likely to have been carried out in connivance with the branch’s account department. We are still investigating further to unravel the whole activities.”

“Of the OFM’s 200 churches in Nigeria alone and its 800 branches in 51 nations of the world, it is possible for any of the pastors to go astray and be corrected. In fact, we discovered that Pastor Aiyedun, including some other members of OFM, did the scheme before our father, Apostle Johnson Suleman made the warning last year against MMM, but Pastor Aiyedun was fired because he did it with the ministry’s name as the OFM rules forbid any of its pastors access to the account  except people in the account department.”

Reports said the erring pastor "would have just been disciplined in line with the church's rules if he had registered for the scheme in his personal capacity but because he used the ministry’s name for the scheme, he was asked to go.”

Recall that the Founder of the church, Apostle Johnson Suleman had at a church service in November 2016, warned members of his congregation against involving in MMM, calling it ‘demonic’.

Meanwhile, the search engine, Google, says that trending most on its site is the sacking of Joseph Aiyedun, the pastor with the popular Nigerian church, Omega Fire Ministries (OFM).

Mr Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, Google’s Communications and Public Affairs Manager, Anglophone West Africa, said in a statement in Lagos that the pastor was sacked for registering with the controversial ponzi scheme, popularly known as MMM.

He said that the development, according to Google Trends, topped searches from Jan. 11 to Jan. 18.

“Pastor Killed My Son Over His Church Revelation That He Was A Wizard” – Biological Mother Of 7yr Old Boy Tortured To Death By Pastor And Stepmum Cries Out

Truely sad. Biological mother of a 7-year-old Joshua Zikeme who was tortured to death at Akaba, Bayelsa, by his father and stepmother has spoken out about the death of her son. . The young boy died after he was allegedly beaten by his father, stepmother and pastor in Bayelsa State.

A Facebook user, Wariebi Sapere-obi shared the photos first and revealed that the child was brought into CHEW (children emergency) FMC Yenagoa already dead.

The 29-year-old Erueke John revealed to Vanguard that her son was tortured after a mushroom church in Yenagoa alleged that he was a wizard.

This led to him being tied to a stake and chunks of his flesh were sliced off in an attempt to exorcise him, thereby leading to his death.

She said that though her son was stubborn, that did not make him a wizard.

“They killed my son in cold blood. I was told the suspects used sharp objects to slice all parts of his body in an attempt to exorcise him.

“I left the father’s house while I was pregnant with the boy, because he was beating me and was also into illegal sales of hard drugs.

“If he had come alone to seek the child’s custody, I would have objected because he is too violent. But the step-mother pleaded and I agreed. Many people, including the aunty in school, warned me but I allowed them take the child. And they have killed him for me.”

Joshua Zikeme was brought dead to the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Yenagoa, his body covered in bruises. This led the hospital management to alert the police who then arrested the couple. The boy’s father, Idiesy Zikeme, and his step-mother, Eunice Zikeme have been transferred to the homicide section of the Bayelsa state Police Command for further interrogation.

Mrs. Julianna Isaac, the proprietress of Dominion Success Academy where Joshua, a Nursery 3 student, schooled before his death, spoke to vanguard, revealing her shock.

“We are shocked at the death of the boy. That a child showed signs of stubbornness does not make him a wizard and be killed in cold blood. We know him and we even missed him during the last exams.” Mrs. Isaac said.

Muslims welcome Lindsay Lohan to Islam after American actress posts Arabic message of peace on her Instagram account

Members of the Muslim faith on social media are welcoming Lindsay Lohan to Islam after the actress deleted her Instagram account and changed her bio on the social media site.

Over the weekend, Lohan got rid of every photo on her Instagram page, leaving nothing but her profile picture and a bio that now reads: 'Alaikum salam.'

The Arabic greeting translates to 'and unto you peace,' and many took it mean that Lohan was converting to the Muslim faith.

'Im so happy that lindsay lohan found Islam. may Allah guide her and bless her,' wrote one young woman on Twitter.

Another posted on her account: 'I heard that Lindsay Lohan converted to Islam? If its true, alhamdulillah. God has shown her the right path to now follow.'

Lohan recently rang in the New Year in the Middle East, choosing to vacation in Dubai over the holidays but has not revealed however if she is in fact converting to the faith

There were previously rumors that Lohan might be converting back in 2015 when she was photographed holding a copy of the Quran while doing community service in Brooklyn.

When appearing on the Turkish talk show Haber Turk later year, she explained that the book was actually just a gift from some friends. 'My very close friends, who have been there for me a lot, in London are Saudi and they gave me the Quran and I brought it to New York because I was learning,' said Lohan.

'It opened doors for me to experience spiritually, to find another true meaning. This is who I am.'

She claimed however that she was attacked after that picture was released in the media. 'They crucified me for it in America. They made me seem like Satan. I was a bad person for holding that Quran,' claimed Lohan.

She said that she was then happy to leave and return to London because she felt 'so unsafe in [her] country.'

Redeemed Church Vs Disgraced FRCN's Boss: "Pastor Enoch Adeboye stepped down because Jim Obazee Threatened to remove him" - RCCG

I didn't cover the story when it all started last week because I was indisposed. (Still am) but ICYMI, here are all the details below..

THE Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, yesterday, said the sacked Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, FRCN, Mr. Jim Obazee, had vowed to remove the General Overseer of the church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.

This revelation was made by Head of the church’s Media and Public Relations, Pastor Segun Adegbiji, who also confirmed that the embattled Obazee was a zonal pastor with RCCG and, at a time, refused to honour Pastor Adeboye’s summons over alleged infractions.

According to Adegbiji, when the General Overseer noticed some infractions and sent for the then zonal pastor, he (Obazee) immediately replied that he was in his office and if Pastor Adeboye really wanted to see him, he knew where to reach him.

Obazee had allegedly refused to suspend the implementation of the FRCN regulation that requires heads of all registered churches, mosques and other non-profit organisations to serve a maximum of 20 years in office and thereafter hand over to someone from outside their families.

Obazee reportedly insisted  that only an official gazette would stop him.

Pastor Adegbiji further said that the recent changes announced by Pastor Adeboye, last week, which caused a stir in the polity, were informed by the provisions of the FRCN Act, explaining that the General Overseer does nothing without consulting God.

According to him, “God may have decided to carry out the reforms for a purpose though such appointments were not new to a growing church like RCCG which has branches in 192 nations of the world.

“The newly appointed country overseer, Pastor Joseph Obayemi may remain the overseer in charge of Nigeria operating from his current regional headquarters in Somolu in Lagos.

“The national headquarters of the church remains in Ebute Metta, Lagos, while the global headquarters is at the Redemption Camp, but the new country overseer, Pastor Obayemi may not immediately move to the Ebute Metta headquarters because it will be administratively inconvenient for him to operate from the headquarters of another region.”

He corrected the impression that the General Overseer, Pastor Adeboye had resigned and appointed a successor, saying: “The General Overseer has not stepped down. He is still the General Overseer of the church and the announcement has not diminished his schedule across the globe.”

He also corrected the impression that the new national overseer was a Special Assistant to the General Overseer, adding that Pastor Obayemi, who will now oversee RCCG’s 28 regions in Nigeria, was one of the seven senior pastors promoted Assistant General Overseers and members of the Governing Council, during the 2016 convention of the church last August.

Pastor Obayemi was a deputy in charge of Finance and a member of governing council in RCCG, before his appointment as the new Country/national Overseer of the church.

RCCG, with 14 parishes before Pastor Adeboye’s entrance, has grown to become one of Nigeria’s biggest with branches in 192 countries.

According to the PRO, the church may not have so designated them but most pastors overseas are actually regarded as country overseers, who act as liaison between the church and their host countries.

With the sack of Obazee and the dissolution of the FRCN Board, President Muhammadu Buhari may have temporarily saved the jobs of many prominent Pentecostal church leaders who have since passed the 20-year threshold.

Among them are Pastor William Kumuyi, who has spent 43 years as the General Suerintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry; Bishop Mike Okonkwo of the Redeemed Evangelical Mission (35 years); Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel’s Bishop David Oyedepo (35 yeas;) Dr. Daniel Olukoya of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (22); Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor of Word of Life Bible Church (29 years); Rev. Chris Okotie of the Household of God (29 years); Kingsway International Christian Centre’s Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo (24 years);. Others are Pastor Chris Oyakhilome of Believers’ LoveWord International, alias Christ Embassy (26 years); Pastor Sam Adeyemi of Daystar Christian Centre (21 years); Pastor Tunde Bakare of Latter Rain Assembly (27 years); House on the Rock’s Pastor Paul Adefarasin (22 years) among others.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, yesterday, expressed confidence of market rebound, saying that the suspension of the FRCN corporate governance code  will not affect foreign investment inflow into the country.

It also kicked against the proposed creation of multiple stock exchanges by the Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC, saying that the existing stock exchange does not have enough liquidity as of today.

NSE Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Oscar Onyema, who stated these during the review of the market performance in 2016 and outlook for 2017, said: “The suspension of the  FRCN’s corporate governance code will not affect foreign investment inflow into the market and the country in general but will rather give them more confidence to invest in the market.  There is more work to be done on the code to be able to address the teething problems.”

The SEC recently disclosed plan to further fragment the stock exchange to cater for Small and Medium Enterprises, SMEs, in the country that are interested in listing but are encumbered by the stringent listing requirements as part of efforts to drive equity listing in the stock market.
